Answer number one, I won't insult you but roofing is totally not as you describe,,,"Not hard at all" Yikes.

Poor isn't strictly an excuse for someone to be charitable,,,no offense meant, I'm POOR also.

Is the damage over a long term? Is it storm related? Can it even be fixed for a nominal price or is it damaged beyond just the shigles or whatever covering you have? Have you homeowners insurance?

One place you can try, and I won't do the leg work for you,,, is habitat for humanity. Not only might they do it, or suggest who can, but they also have THRIFT stores nationwide that sell at discount, excess and donated construction material.

I wish you well.

Sell your computer, have the internet service disconnected, shut off the cable or satellite service, ride a bicycle and save gas, get a job or a second job, apply for a home improvement loan using your house as collateral, etc.

I've been poor, too. There are ways to get by if you put your mind to it. Not saying this is your situation but, the problem with a lot of people is that they live beyond their means or depend too much for handouts and other people to bail them out of a difficult situation.

Yet you have a computer or access to one and the time to sit at it and ask for free stuff.

Kinda like the wiseman said, "Poor people ain't as poor as they claim if they can sit around all day doing nothing but holding up a sign claiming they will work for food. If they were willing to work for food they would already be doing so.

So get a job or a better one and stand on your own two feet.

sell computer, buy ladder. For materials, I saw a seventy year old lady reroof her house using cut up beer cans. Afterward she had an attractive alum. roof, for the cost of felt and nails.

do it yourself, it will cost about 1/30Th the price, its not hard at all. if you just need new shingles that's really easy, leave the old ones on, go over them with the new, helps work as a backup and doesn't take as long.
