Yes you can travel with current valid passport accompanied with valid visa on expired passport; conditions are:

- Both the passports always be accompanied together in the first place.

- Both the passports have completely matching details about the person concerned, except the recent photograph of the person concerned on new passport.

- The new passport should be got stamped for the remaining period of its validity in reasonable time.

- Get in touch with the Indian Embassy concerned, even over telephone and apprise them of the situation taking reference number and date of your reporting them so.

- Old passport number must clearly be mentioned in the new passport under the authentication / signatures of the new passport issuing authority.

The visa does not expire with the passport. You have to apply for the re-issue of the Passport. You will have to enclose your old passport also with your application for re-issue of the Passport.Even when the Visa is valid you cannot travel abroad without a valid current passport. After the expiry of a passport, there is no renewal of passport in India, but a re-issue only. They charge the same Amount as for afresh passport. Approach the passport Kendra or visit the website Site concerned or contact some authorized agent. There is no need to apply for a fresh visa. The unexplored visa is valid for travel to the U Service. While traveling, carry both the old and new passports with you.
