You really shouldn't cut anything out of your diet unless you have a proper clinical diagnosis. If she has symptoms, she should see her doctor - a simple blood test can diagnose coeliac disease.

She may not have coeliac disease but may have an intolerance to another substance, such as wheat. With coeliac disease, you have to avoid everything containing gluten, which is incredibly difficult as it's found in many different types of grains. I am intolerant of wheat, which is bad enough, but if I had to avoid gluten completely I'd probably starve!

Gluten/wheat free products can be bought in most large supermarkets now, but they don't taste that good and they're really expensive. If your friend really does have coeliac disease she can get these products prescribed by her doctor which will save a lot of money.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and you should never treat a self diagnosed disease such as this.It can be fatal if it not treated properly and fatal if it's something else.IF it is coeliacs then she should not eat any food made with wheat & flour, such as cakes, biscuits, gravy thickeners,She must read the packet for everything she eats and check to see if it contains GLUTEN, this must be avoided at all costs. If she want's more advice tell her to e mail me but give me her full e mail address for a reply.

You have to follow a very strict diet, avoiding as humanly possible, gluten, but she has to be aware that some celiacs have sensititvity to other products different than gluten, like soy or colorants. The safest advice would be that she go to a doctor and have him tell her what or what not to eat.

Your friend needs to see a doctor and get it confirmed coz untreated/incorrectly treated coeliacs disease can cause cancer.
