Or you get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt? Little by little our rights are being took away, but most people only look at the ones that help with terrorism.

I don't really think Big Brother is listening to all our phone calls. Big Brother just doesn't have that much time and help.

Not smoking? Here in FL people pretty much can't smoke indoors anymore, except in bars. That was a law passed by the voters. As a non smoker, even though I did not vote for it, it sure doesn't bother me to sit in a restaurant and not breathe in second hand smoke.

I'm also all for the seat belt law. Aside from it protecting children, it also protects other people in the car from the 200 pound projectiles that morons become in an accident when they don't want to buckle up.

Bottom line (IMHO)-
I don't really think that not wearing a seat belt is a right, as driving is a privilege. And since secondhand smoke has been proven harmful, I don't think people should be forced to be exposed to it.

The phone calls- that's something else. I do think there should be just cause for listening in on private conversations.

It's worse that they listen to our phone calls. All of it is wrong but that one takes the cake. Telling us we have to wear our seatbelts or that we can't smoke is saving the taxpayers money in the long run although it doesn't seem real american.

The seatbelt one is important, because I lost an uncle that way. I don't like the idea of my privacy being evaded. I feel like we should always have freedom of speech, but not according to some conservative folks.

We are a police state now, George Washington would roll in his grave if he saw what was going on, but he would have also have fired the girl that tried to suck him off in the highest office of the land, or shot her. Things change, as it does, so does the quality of life.

I just read a quote from Benjamin Frankling that sums it up perfectly: "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety - deserve neither liberty or safety". People are so scared right now (i.e. brainwashed) that they are willing to give up almost anything to feel even slightly more safe....

They are both horrible. The worst would be big brother making me give him a b.j. in the oval office.
