My son and his wife divorced about three years ago, up until the time he ran out of money and took a different career approach (stopped paying child support) the girls came routinly to see us. They are ages 11 and 5, they have cousins thier same ages on our side of the family, we have had a close relationship in the past. Now the wife is remarried and "busy" everytime we ask to see the girls. We have offered to pick them up on Tuesdays to play and swim, or asked for them to go to the movies and dinner, maybe on a Sunday come go to church with us and share the afternoon playing with cousins but they are always "busy". The latest response we got to the inquiry to see the girls was, "maybe sometime in mid or late July, we are pretty busy up until that time". All we want is to see and be a part of thier lives, maybe get a tball or soccer schedule, etc. We are not asking for week long visits, even overnights, just to see the grandchildren on a regular basis.
Is it within our rights to ask?

Yes you can, but it is depending on your state. In Texas, we have this thing called "Grandparents Rights"....you should check with some of the attorneys in your area to ask about that....

I have heard that in some States you do have visiting rights, but you will have to go to court. You can find out all about by going to a laywer or search on line .

Your question is asking for legal advice. Only a lawyer is authorized to give legal advice. So my answer is to seek out a lawyer to answer your question.
