"Faster Response"
At UPS they analize everything.
They found that time could be saved if the delivery guy didn't have to open and close the door at every stop.
The roof is made of translusent plastic so that durring the day, the driver doesn't have to waste time turning on a light switch.
The little "stools" they use for driver seats are rasied above a normal setting position (knees bent to a right angle) so that the drivers don't have to "Stand up" to get out. But this one also redueces repeditive stress so it's "ok".
**There is a computer attached to the ignition of the truck that tracks how long the engine has been running, in motion, stopped, and off. So if you do all of your deliveries really fast, you can't go and park in some lot somewhere and waste an hour or two.
The computerized clipboards they use time how long it takes them to make a delivery. They can't spend more then 45* seconds to make a residential delivery or more then 2:30* for offices with fewer then 10 floors. (I was once told if the elevator is too slow take the stairs)
