A few tips for getting your PC to run a little better.

1. Right click My Computer
> Click Properties
>Click Advanced tab at the top.
>In the Performance box click settings,
>Click Adjust for best performance and Apply.
2. In the same window click on the Advance tab.
>in the Virtual Memory box click Change,
>In the Paging file size for selected drive click Custom size,
>You can put what you want in the initial size, depending on how much hard drive space you have, I put about 2000-3000, it is not going to work like upgrading RAM, but it does help, when you've determined how much to put in click OK, then apply. You might have to restart your computer.

The above answers are correct. Virtual memory (also known as a "paging file") is a part of your hard disk used as a RAM "substitute". Just as a warning, it is exponentially slower than actual RAM. And since your operating system has to read and write from this section of the hard-drive as it would RAM, as well as read the files from your video game off of the disk, performance drops even further.

If you absolutely need to use a paging file as a RAM substitute, the best practice is to make sure that you use a separate physical disk drive running on a different bus, so that the paging file does not compete for bandwidth on the IDE bus, or on the drive itself.

Another good practice to use (although windows XP will do this for you), is to use defragmentation software which will put the paging file at the beginning of the drive.

Yes. It's your virtual memory... I'm not sure how much this will improve it but...

System properties ~~>
click Advanced Tab ~~>
Click on Performance Settings ~~>
click on the Advanced Tab ~~>
Then Adjust your Virtual Memory Settings

Virtual memory uses your hard drive as memory, and that is very slow. Your best bet is to go out and buy more memory.
