Well since it is summer and swimming season she should learn in my opinion. She should be watched for symptoms of TSS and really shown how to insert one. If it hurts her at all which tampons sometimes do she want wear them for long!!

If you are OK with her wearing them and feel she can handle it then let her. Do some research on them so you have an idea then explain the risks to your daughter. If after hearing them she still wants to wear them then teach her how to wear one if she does not already know. If it would make you feel better about the whole thing it does not hurt to bring her to your gynecologist for further information. Your doctor is trained in this area and will be able to answer any questions and let your daughter know what symptoms to look for should anything go wrong. Good luck.

Basically the answer has been stated and restated many many times already. I just want to correct a very incorrect answer. Ladyp is being very ignorant. Just because someone wears tampons doesn't determine their virginity. Ladyp, you are obviously immature, young, and don't use tampons! Your answer is totally wrong! If your daughter comes out of the bathroom and she is uncomfortable its because she doesn't have the tampon inserted correctly! Ladyp, go back to school and make sure you listen in health class.

Let her use them. The Tampax website has a bunch of information. She probably can figure out how to use them on her own. I would just get her a box and tell her to read the product insert before she does anything else. I would also encourage her to wear panty liners for awhile until she gets the hang of them. I venture to say that at the age of 14 she probably has already gotten one from friend at some point.

let her, they are so much more comfortable and wont make her self conscious about the big bulge she probably gets from wearing pads. you feel cleaner when you wear tampons, alot of women do.
i understand she's only 14 but if shes old enough for a period she's old enough for tampons. its her vagina not yours.

This is normal.. When you're a teen you tend to be more curious with other things and need a parents guidance through the way.. I think you should be very considerate in what she thinks she wants and show her how to use a tampon..

don't worry your daughter is just growing up and wants to try something more comfortable when her time of the month comes. let her try to insert them on her own. there is a little booklet in every pack of tampons that show you ways to insert them. just go over it with her and ask her if this is what she really wants. if she is not comfortable with it she will wait alittle while longer.

More power to here if she wants to try tampons! Pads feel like diapers. I cant blame her for wanting to try something else. It's no biggie. Pads always made me feel self-conscious..especially around boys...I bet she's goin through the same thing =)

I would read the instruction to her and show her the pictures that are printed n those instructions that come in the box of tampons. She will pobably freak out and never mention it again!
