been mistaken for being of a different heritage? For example, I'm Native American and white but people are always asking me if I am Mexican. It doesn't bother me at all bcuz I just tell them what I really am. But what bothers is me is when people insist that I'm Mexican even though I told them I'm not . They're like , no you're lying, you're really Mexican and I'm just like okay, whatever.

Yeah, I've got dark hair and lived in a predominately Mexican neighborhood, so people assumed I was Mexican, even though I'm white. One time, someone even walked up to me and asked me something in Spanish...and with my skills, I knew what he asked. But yeah, people used to think I was Mexican in my old neighborhood, not so much where I live now.

In the summer when my husband is tan a lot of people think he's a mexican too, When we lived in North Chicago for a little while he hated it because even a lot of mexican people would just start a conversation in spanish with him. And even when we moved to Indiana to his hometown people here ask him and tell him he's lying too. It sucks...

I'm white but my husband is Mexican. I have a Spanish last name and sometimes a Spanish accent (I'm told). People often ask me if I'm Mexican or white. Many people get so thrown off and nervous by it. It's crazy.

Yes, it happens quite often. I am fair skined, with brown hair and eyes and because I am so light people think I am white, but I am hispanic. I have a hispanic last name and people will still as me if I am white or hispanic. Most people are taken back when they hear me speak in Spanish and then they are me if I took Spanish in school and I have to tell them I am hispanic and I learned at home. It does get kind of frustrating.

I've got dark brown skin and black hair and a slightly Americanized accent, so for some reason ppl always assume I'm black American or that I'm African. It's funny, but recently I've started playing along. Ignorant a*******, the whole lot of them. I'm very Indian, thank you!!!

Don't let other people bother you like that. If you know what the truth is than that's all that matters.
