My pick would be Ringo Starr. The reason being is that there is so much to kow about the history of the Beatles and their lives. Also, thogh the Beatle in the group who tended to be fairly quiet, he knew it from the beginning. I know that he has partaken on other albums and compilations, and doesn't wave any of his fame ..EVER in light of the public. I worked in the music industry in Los Angeles for a very long time, met many luminaries....just ordinary people. Some have been one hit wonders and many continue to do duets or back up. It is the art of this craft that is so interesting. I have been in many studios and watched the music come to life while in the process. I could have said Albert Einstein, or a plethora of others, however, this one catches my eye and my heart and soul are made of music ~ I know this man to be so thoughtful, anything but ordinary in his appreciation for his successes...and though I never wrote him to rquest this...it is here that I say it would be him. A myriad of questions ...oh I can just imagine him laughing. I would want to bring my camera as well, do a column on him and find out what in looking back he thinks of he evolution of music ~ Yes, Ringo Starr would be the one that I would choose. Some consider him to be 'so long ago'...and yet that is precisely why I would choose him. I feel he is honest & kind. I am very happy for his life, family life and appreciative of his incredible right on licks as a drummer....see, it is when you relly do NOT notice it in a song and the song goes Classic that it is what is behind the music that is surely in front of true success. he was a spot on drummer....and still is.
Uhmmm would someone hold my camera for this one, I'd like a picture of Ringo and myself...... I cannot now help but smile as I saw them on the Ed Sullivan show with my Mother at 10, and my life was forever changed. I began playing the cello & guitar from 10 on......this man made a difference....and he is my choice.
Let's face it....being FAB must've been wonderful..... and it is part of the heritage I have that has made me who I am today...he will perhaps never know this, but I do....and I am not alone I am sure.,
