That is really a matter of opinion. 7-8 inches is generally average so big would be bigger than that. But some people might consider 8 inches to be big. I wouldn't worry about big, small or average. Technique is the key, that is what is really important.

big could be infinite, such as the universe. or it could just be more than you can eat at one sitting. i suppose it could also describe the ego of someone driving a hummer to pick up groceries. or perhaps it is night sky on the prairies.

i think big is more than you need but less than you want.
