In 1787, fifty-five suits gathered in Philly with a mandate to revise the articles of confederation of the then existing 13 colonies.
These 55 suits represented a BUSINESS ELITE of about 100,000 in a population of about 3,000,000.
THERE WERE NO REPRESENTATIVES OF THE GRASS-ROOTS, even though it was their bona fide revolution that fought and won the revolution in '76.
This business elite , immediately sequestered themselves behind locked doors, promptly violated their own mandate, and produced what is known today as the stucture of the U.S. Government (with its Constitution and Bill of Rights.)
They agreed then, that the U.S. Constitution must not only protect, but also PROMOTE business interests.
History shows therefore, that the U.S. government is of the rich, by the rich, for the rich. This defines a PLUTOCRACY.
How can America spread what it NEVER had, and so doesn't have a clue about???
The American government - which ever party - is the go-fer of the military-industrial complex. Remember the sick joke from Washington: "There's nothing wrong with the economy a 'good' war can't fix". Remember also Bush addressing his fat-cats at a meeting: "They call you the elite; I call you my base".
Heck man, as I see it, the system works just fine - the go-fers have been delivering faithfully for two-hundred years now. And it's going to continue until the peoples of the world wise up and stop buying the con, a bona fide democracy exists ANYWHERE on mother earth, if democracy is government of the people, by the people, for the people.
C'mon folks, rid yourselves of your mental ball and chain...and face the REAL world - unless, of course, you just love prozac!
Peace,
Justice

Uhhh, no dictatorship. See, in a Democracy we elect people to represent the citizens. The elected officials then do what they think is right for our country. At the end of their terms, they must run for re-election. If you disagree, then make sure you and all your conspiracy minded friends turn out in force to vote for whomever you wish. Or you could move to Libya or Iran and see first hand what a dictatorship is really like. Drop us a line when you get back.

You are ignoring the difference between a democracy and a dictatorship. Just because one party controls everything doesn't make it a dictatorship, just makes it easier for it to pass legislation.
Try visiting Saudi Arabia - that's a dictatorship as the unelected ruling family controls everything.
Elections are what happens in other countries.

Not even close to a dictatorship. You must be very young. Iraq was a dictatorship. President Bush could not go to war without the Democrats voting for support of the war before it was declared. Kerry also voted to support the war, "before he voted against it". Saying you support something and changing your mind later, when you think the public has changed it's opinion, is not leadership. Probably why he lost. ...Anyway Bush could not have done whatever he wanted without the support of the Democrats. Very uncharacteristic of a dictatorship.

He assumes since more than half the country voted for him, we agreed with his opinion. He should do what he thinks is right. Did you expect a poll for every decision? If you think all 3 branches are one party, have you asked why people voted that way. Maybe we agree with that party. You do not but you were outvoted so get over it.

if you don't like it go out and vote and campaign for someone who you believe in. you may not like the way the government works b/c they aren't doing what you believe is right, but that's your opinion. the system will never be perfect, you should know that. if you think we have it so bad, move. no one is forcing you to live in the U.S.

I think it was Jon Stewart who recently pointed out that Israel's presidential election had a higher turnout (by 8-13 percent points) than our last Presidential election did.
As he said, "We shouldn't be bringing democracy to the Middle East, they should be bringing it to us!"

Most people who can think for themselves can see not only the irony of it but the illegality of what he is doing. It doesn't take a liberal to see that he has wiped his but with the constitution.
