I live in Southeast Missouri and we bought a new construction home in 1995 for $65,000. Our home has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Homes here now are going for $85,000 to $150,000.

I'm in San Diego and a two story, 3000-3500 sq ft, 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home is $800,000 in my neighborhood. They are building detached townhomes about 1/2 mile away that will sell for 585,000 for 3 bedroom, 2 bath 2000 sq ft. Attached condos similarly designed will be in the high $300,000's.

A four bedroom home in Sydney Australia is about 3 or 4 million with ocean views and near the city. . In my neighborhood houses start at about 600,000 without ocean views and about 1.5 million for a new house with ocean views.

Well, the house I live in, 3 bed, 1 bath, cracker box, built in 1940's, nice size/landscaped yard, central heat/air, newer roof, new kitchen appliances, newer bathroom, in Northern California, would sell EASY for $390,000 right now.

My grandparents paid something like $10,000 on a GI bill in 1945.

Depends. A large 4 BR house that's new and around 3000-4000 sq. ft is about 700-800K. A small one in a crowded neighborhood (also new) and with lesser qualities (no upgraded amenities) would start at around $350K.

Housing is Crazy they say it is at all time high
People have to have good jobs to Afford a 600,000 House
I spent just a hair under 100,000 and my payments are through the roof for what I make

I am finding more and more that the prices of everything is going up up but the wages are not!
O well I will just keep working my 2 jobs to support myself and my family.

They're averaging $100 a square foot in Northwest Florida for a common home. Custom homes go for a lot more. Waterfront homes go for A WHOLE LOT more.
