Cramping pains in early pregnancy can mean a number of things, however the two most common ones are implantation cramps and miscarriage.
You are only about 4 weeks pregnant and the risk of miscarriage is very high and usually happens with no real explanation. This doesn't mean that you won't go on to have healthy pregnancies resulting in live births....I'm living proof of that!
The other thing that it could be is implantation bleeding, meaning that once the egg is fertilised it travels down to the uterus and finds a spot to attach itself to, then it burrows down into the uterus to ensure that it has a really good hold, and many women feel this as a period pain.
If you are worried, or if you've had recurrent miscarriages in the past, you are able to attend an Early Pregnancy Unit (EPU). They will peform a vaginal scan so that the scanning device touches the top of your uterus (as they have a better view this way than through your abdomen), and they will determine if the pregnancy sac is full and may even detect a small heartbeat. The full sac and heartbeat are reassuring signs that this pregnancy will continue. The vaginal scan is a little uncomfortable, but no more so than a cervical smear test.
Good luck to you.

If you got a positive result then the pregnancy test detected HCG in your urine so you can say you are pregnant.
If you are having pains it could be that you might be going to miscarriage.
I hope you are not but you need to see a doctor soon. The pains could be anything though. Good luck and congrats..
Miscarriage Symptoms
A miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy before 20 weeks and it is nature's way of ending a pregnancy that is not developing normally. The length of the pregnancy will effect the number and severity of miscarriage symptoms.
A miscarriage that takes place shortly after conception can occur as a slightly late, slightly heavy period. Symptoms can vary from person to person, but there are common ones that generally occur:
Bleeding. This can range from brownish spotting to heavy bleeding. It is important to note that many women experience spotting or bleeding during pregnancy and about 50% of the time, the pregnancy progresses normally.
Pain or cramping in the lower abdominal area. The pain could be on just one side, both sides, or in the middle. You may also experience pain in the genitals, lower back, thighs, or buttocks.
You may notice that pregnancy symptoms like nausea and breast tenderness have subsided or lessoned. Be aware that some women do not notice any change in these symptoms, while others do.
Some women say that didn't "feel right" just prior to their symptoms.
If you are pregnant and experiencing symptoms you should contact your health care provider. If any of the following symptoms occur you should go the Emergency Room immediately:
Heavy bleeding
Passing clots or something that looks like tissue (bring the tissue to the hospital in a clean container)
A fever higher than 100.4 degrees F
Dizziness or fainting
A history of tubal (or ectopic) pregnancy
Severe vomiting
Severe pain the abdomen or back
If you have any uncertainty about the need to contact your health care provider, call him or her immediately.

If you had a positive pregnancy test, which is what you stated, I don't understand why people are saying that you might be pregnant. Those tests are pretty darn accurate. The cramping you are experiencing is probably caused from the ligaments that hold your uterus stretching. The cramps can be somewhat painful. Another thing to look at is a possible urinary track infection. I am prone to UTIs and, to me, it always feels like period cramps. So you need to get to the doctor, have the pregnancy confirmed by a blood test and get a positive diagnosis regarding the cramps. If you do have a UTI you need to be on antibiotics. Also, kidney infections (they are different than UTI but hurt in similar ways) can be deadly to an unborn child.

It could be the mild cramping of implantation that occurs within 5 days of when a period would begin. You might also have a little spotting of pink or dark brown blood.
If the blood becomes bright red or is more copious than a period, you might have cause to worry.
Right now, though, you should just relax, get a little more rest than usual and try to enjoy your little secret. Congratulations.

Congrats on your preggers test. but i would wait a few more days and go get a urine test because home pregnancy tests are designed to test the level of Hcg in your urine. you can take a test and it will come out positive but a few days later come on your period. That is called a chemical pregnancy. i hope my answer didn't discourage you and i hope that you are expecting a little bundle of joy. but then again, during pregnancy you will cramp alittle. that is pretty much normal because this is just your uterus growing. they shouldn't be intense or too painful though.

If you have done a pregnancy test and it is positive, then your most likley pregnant. It is possible to have periods while your pregnant, and even if you dont come on, dont worry. you also get period pains and cramps while your pregnant, and it does feel like your about to come on. this is quite normal for most people. But do see your doctor anyways if you are pregnant. Good luck doll! and congratulations!!!

I'm sorry to say you could be miscarrying. They say 50% of pregnancies end very early like this. I have lost three of my children just like you, in the first trimester about when I would have gotten my period. I hope it's not. It could be nothing but "growing pains." Just try to relax and wait and see. If you get a moderate to heavy flow, you are almost surely miscarrying. But sometimes very light bleeding is normal in the beginning of pregnancy.
