I was browsing in a neighborhood thrift store once when I happened across a pair of chi gong therapy balls, the kind you rotate in the palm of one hand to make them give off that pretty chiming sound. Each of the pair was larger than the usual size, and each was decorated with vibrant cloisonne work. One ball had a phoenix and the other a dragon, the classic yin/yang creatures from Asian philosophy and folklore. They came in a box covered with green satin on the outside and red on the inside. The price was so staggeringly low I pounced on the set at once!

My husband and I found a whole attic full of old books, antique furniture and household items in a very old house we had rented. I don't think the owner knew how to get into the attic because it had a secret trap door, hidden in the design of the ceiling. Delighted with our find, we cleaned it out and took it to my mother-in-law's house where she stored it in her cellar until it got moldy and worthless. I regret ever telling her of our exciting find. The potential value, and our loss of this find, is incalculable.

I found a baseball, signed by Joe DiMaggio and a bunch of other old time players, back in 1942. It was laying in a box in the top of my grandfathers closet. I also have photo's of Joe in a military uniform, and someone offered me $1,200 for it, unsigned.

My grandmother gave me a wooden Buddha from the Barbados... I didn't know that there were a lot of Buddhists in the Barbados, but I found it delightful! The treasure of hilarity.
