several other people have asked this question so i'll tell you the same thing that i told them......you do have to already have a natural soprano voice, other than that it all relies on training and practice.....you should find a good voice teacher if yuo want to hit those notes.....she teach you a few exercises to try.....you'll start by finding your natural range, and then you'll do "warm ups" (singing scales) and once your voice is good and warm you'll do the same thing only going a few notes above your natural range....you'll do that for awhile until your voice is stretch out and you can hit the new notes as easily as the others, and you'll add new notes and follow the same procedure until you reach the range you want to be in.....the same applies if you want to stretch your range lower, but if you don't use it you lose it, so you have to maintain practice everyday ....but it has nothing to do with singing through your nose, in fact it has more to do with breath support and control....good luck

Are you talking about the super high super sonic notes that she's hitting? Because honestly, I think some of that is genetics. Very FEW people can even hit those notes. If you're looking to expand your range, then yes, singing in the higher registers does have more of a nasal sensation, but the sound isn't coming through your nose, it's still floating over your vocal chords and out of your mouth. Each time you practice your scales, try to go just one note higher - so if the last time you practiced, you hit a D, then try for an E this time - but don't strain or try to force it. Hit the not a little more quietly - go for quality and not volume as you're expanding your range. Again, I don't know if you can really go as high as Mariah - she has a 4 or 5 octave range and most people only have 2-3 octaves (3 if they're lucky).
Hope that helped. Good luck.

For one, you're the one asking the question, and if we think the answer is it's a gift, then we have the right to say so regardless.
Second, I honestly do think that some girls just can't go as high or low as she can. Mariah Carey has a *HUGE* vocal range that few girls can boast of having. I don't know any other answer to say except keep trying if you want.

OK i totally know the answer. this always works. OK if you are going to sing lets say in the morning or like perform on a certain day. DONT talk the whole day. this is what also mariah carey does. DOnt talk to like anyone. use aim, text, e.t.c but dont talk and drink liquids all day. shakes, water, e.t.c it doesnt have to be healthy stuff just dont eat solid foods. and after a day or so when you start singing your voice will sound soo full, hott, and you will be suprised by the notes that you will reach.

well its alittle bit talent a little bit practice honey. you can help yourself hit the high ones by standing or sitting straight in your chair pull your shoulders back don't hunch over. drink plenty of water before hand and its a good idea to stay away from milk products (it makes your voice crack) my choir teacher always gave us hot honey and lemon befor eour concerts let the back of your tongue slide down and back it will let you get more air breathe in through your nose and go for it
PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!
good luck

from my musical experience being in the advanced chorus in Mobile Alabama at Vigor High School i would tell you to take in more air to full your diapham completely then spread your mouth and it will give you an higher pitch.
