There's no way they're getting KG unless they're willing to give up Kobe

I am the biggest Laker fan of all time. I promise. But I am also a realist and know it is highly doubtful the Lakers can acquire Kevin Garnett. Lamar Odom is not ebough to offer, and the Lakers are too smart to give up Andrew Bynum. That leaves the lakers with Kwame Brown (stepped up big late in the season), Luke Walton (mediocre ball player), and Chris Mihm. I don't see a trade happening with a combination of those four players (all but Bynum). Besides, why trade Odom when he went off in the playoff series against the Suns.
To help the team get better, I picture Marcus Banks coming in as either a free agent or in a sign and trade. He will fill in the need at point guard.

This would be a huge trade no doubt, but we must take into account players' salaries and the salary cap. Keep in mind that IF the Lakers were to make a trade, the salaries of the incoming players or player cannot exceed 125% plus $100,000 of the ougoing players' salaries.
Garnett still has 3 years left on his $18 million dollar contract. In contrast, Odom is making a little over $11 million. This means that a straight up Odom trade would not be possible. Rashad McCants has 1 year left on a $1.5 million dollar contract; that only means the Lakers would have to add in more players to try to balance out the salaries. Kwame Brown is making $7.5 million, so realistically a Brown + Odom trade for Garnett alone would be possible...but it's unlikely the twolves are interested in Brown. Mihm has the 4th highest salary on the Lakers not counting Devean Brown, whose contract just expired. However, Mihm is only making $3.8 million.
Lakers would have to give up quite a lot if they are going to trade for Garnett...While a trade for Garnett is possible, Kobe is making close to $16 million already. Kobe + KG would make a combine $34 million, that is well over half (probably close to 3/4's) of the Laker's payroll. There are 13 other players that need to be paid; making such a trade for KG would leave the Lakers financially strapped (payroll wise) and make it hard for them to pursue any free agents or resign any of their own players whose contracts have expired. Mitch Kupchack probably wouldn't want the Lakers going over the salary cap and thereby being subjected to a luxury tax, so I'm doutbful much will come of these trade rumors.
Personally, I'd like to see the Lakers try to acquire Ben Gordon; he'd be a nice backcourt mate for Kobe. Then the Lakers could try to sign other free agents and shore up the center/other-foward-position-not played by Odom and whatnot. Regardless, it'll be interesting to see how the Lakers choose to rebuild their team into the dynasty they once were.

I am a DIE HARD LAKERS fan and the Lakers will try to pull off a big blockbuster trade to get KG. I think the Lakers should resign Devean George and then trade him along with Kwame Brown and Luke walton to the Timberwolves for KG. And then sign free agent Ben Wallace and Sam Cassell. cause then you would have a line-up like thise: PG:#19 Sam Cassell, SG: #24 Kobe Bryant, SF: #7 Lamar Odom, PF: #21 Kevin Garnett and C: #3 Ben Wallace. Cause three of those players have championships Cassell, Kobe and Wallace so I think that will also help the Zen Master out alot more. Cause players with championship experience is alot not to pass up.

Not a Laker fan. Actually a Minnesota Fan. There is a absolute 0% chance that the Timberwolves will send him to the Lakers next Year. He said himself that he wanted to stay in Minnesota until his career ends. He led the Team in scoring, Rebounds, assists, and steals. Even with the Timberwolves with a 7th overall pick KG is the only one who really supported the team other than McCants, Davis and Banks

I'm a Laker fan and the idea of KG going to LA is great. But you really have to consider money in this topic. KG is a great player. He earns as what Kobe earns. But some of LA player's contract are far more less then KG's. Lakers will go bankcrupt. But this can never really be a big problem since Kobe+Kevin=sold out games. So it is really possible that KG will go to Lakers.

Nope- The Wolves may be interested in Lamar Odom...but not that interested- guys like Odom, Andrew Bynum, Kwame Brown and Chris Mihm are all they could really offer and I don't see a deal working that the Wolves would actually accept- especially because the Lakers highest draft pick is number 26- dont count on it

I don't think that will happen. Lamar Odom was one of the major pieces for that trade to happen, and the way Odom played towards the end of the year, they won't move him. The Lakers will not give up most of their team for just one guy(even tho he is a superstar) and the Wolves don't want to give him away for nothing.

Lakers aren't my favorite, but I like 'em.
Hahaha, KG to the Lakers. No for real, I think it's unlikely. Probably a higher chance of him going to the Knicks.

not gonna happen...kobe would be fighting for the limelight again if KG moves to the lakers....something phil jackson doesnt want to happen....he solved his problems when shaq was traded and kobe responded...what they need are role players and support players for odom and kobe....
....ben wallace wont be moving out of detriot. and dumars will make everything happen to retain big ben.
