Choose Final Cut Pro. Windows Movie Maker sucks.

Windows Movie Maker, simple, light, and fast. Just not so versatile.
If you have a rig that really works, Adobe Premiere is the way to go.

Exactly what Gregory said. Premier for PC, Final Cut for Mac.

I don't know what type of movie editing you are doing, but I use Quicktime Pro. It lets you combine multiple movies, cut parts out, and save in different formats. The downside is that you need to pay for it.

I use the free movie shaker, that came loaded with my computer. I think if you want a really good one, you will have to pay for it. Both free ones work, but tend to be very slow, in doing so.

Adobe Premiere. I'd rather use Final Cut Pro, but they only have it for Macs, at least to my knowledge :(
