It depends on the number of people playing. A good 2 person game is Spite and Malice using 3 decks of cards. Canasta is a fun card game for 4 or more just add decks as the number of people grow. Picturanary is great with a crowd

Settlers of Catan and Diamant are two of my favorite boardgames.
Settlers of Catan involves trading and building on an island. This game has a modular board, cards and dice, so every game is different.
Diamant is a press-your-luck game with a mining theme. It's very easy to learn and plays quickly.
You can learn a lot more about these and other games at www.boardgamegeek.com

Apples to apples- its a hilarious game of comparisons, best when played in a large group (8-10 people).
Would you rather- it can be difficult to find, but once you do it creates a night of laughs. You are forced to choose between two silly options. Its worth it, trust me.
Cranium- a fun combination of various other games.

Cranium! This game combines everything loved about classic games. Charades, word play, and even trivia to name a few. The only drawback is you need at least four people to play.
