Because women, just like men, have a built-in, primordial cumpulsion to have sex with multiple partners.
By now, there are a bunch of women out there screaming that I'm wrong, but really...read a study, it's true. We women may have a better ability to ignore this trait than men do, but it's still there in the background.
There is a need for us to mix up our DNA. It's not healthy for any species to limit its breeding patterns. Therefore, in order to keep things mixed up, humans have a tendency to look for new partners. In women, this often connects to their menstrual cycle.
You'll also notice that women subconsiously dress in a more suggestive manner than normal, as they approach their fertile time of the month.

I'll take a shot at this....
During a woman's "cycle" her goals will change. Most of the time their thoughts are guided by what is important to them. IE. If they desire a big house they will look for a rich man. If they like fast cars they will be attracted to a man with a nice car. In other words they are looking for someone to share their interest.
However, when their body is telling them it's time to "continue the species" they want a man most likely to produce a strong healthy baby. Physical attraction takes over.

Don't know. But I do know that young females tend to wear more revealing clothing when approaching their menstrual cycle. i.e. when on an evening out.
Like it or not, human beings are still influenced by their animal instincts.

Read a book on Human Behaviour, you'll be educated.

Ummm... I don't think so. I think we are attracted to all different types at all different times.
I always think... Leonardo Dicaprio is so hot, but then sometimes Vin Diesel gets me goin. Then there's the Matt Damon type... I could go on and on.
Let's face it, men can just be plain HOT!

Yeah, i've read that too, when you are ovulating your body is seeking a macho man that it thinks will be more virile and able to successfully fertilise your egg.
At other times it is seeking someone who will be more nurturing ... or something... Anyway, just shows, we are nothing but mammals.

It's whether they feel like they need someone to protect them or if they need a friend. I thought it was the other way round? I watched it on a documentary years ago though.

Because women have raging hormones and have that natural animalistic urge to mate.
