YES I DID. WHAT I LIKED ABOUT IT WAS I SPENT 3 MONTHS THERE WITH MY FAMILY. THE DAYS ARE HOT AND DRY BUT THE NIGHTS ARE COOL AND CONFORTABLE. THE PEOPLE ARE SO KIND AND GENEROUS. I WAS MARRIED TO A KENYAN AND WHEN I ARRIVED THE PEOPLE IN MY HUSBANDS VILLAGE KNEW WHO I WAS BEFORE I COULD SAY ANYTHING THEY TREATED ME LIKE ONE OF THEM AND NOT A TOURIST. AND WHEN MY HUSBAND PASSED AWAY THERE THE LOVE THEY SHOWED WAS AMAZING I NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. NOT IN AMERICA ATLEAST. THE PEOPLE THAT SHOWED UP TO PAY THERE RESPECTS WERE ENDLESS MILES AND MILES OF PEOPLE, PEOPLE I NEVER KNEW AND PEOPLE HE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW. IT WAS LIKE THE WHOLE VILLAGE SHUTS DOWN. I WAS JUST AMAZED BY ALL THIS AND AT THE SAME TIME OVERWHELMED CAUSE THEN I REALIZED I WAS BY MYSELF IN AFRICA WITH OUT HIM, BUT WITH EVERYONE SUPPORT THEY GOT ME THREW AND I MADE MANY FRIENDS THERE AND I EVEN HAVE A HOUSE THERE. I ENJOYED BEING IN AFRICA AND ONE DAY WOULD LOVE TO GO BACK. MY INLAWS KEEP ASKING ME TO COME, AND ONE DAY I WILL.

The sky is fantastic! It just seems to go on forever (sounds strange but you'd understand if you saw it!)

Obviously the chance to see wild animals means that if you can possibly afford a safari or similar, you should definately do it, even though it involves getting up at the crack of dawn every day and being bounced around on very rough roads.

The people are very friendly in the hotels - but you have to be very careful out and about alone as many live in abject poverty right on the doorstep of large tourist complexes - and there are a lot of prostitutes hanging around hotels and on the beach - but as long as you are a responsible tourist it is a wonderful country to experience.

yes I went in 1995

and I'm going next week to clim Kilimanjaro for charity

I love Mombasa - the sand is the most amazing you will ever see in the world - like flour - white and soft -
the views - the animals - you must do a safari
the food brilliant unusuall stuff - try a bit of everything - amazing
the people - very kind and amuzed by us

if you want to take stuff to give away ( we are taking all our old cloths and shoes to give ) DO NOT TAKE SWEETS - they don't have tooth brushes there and giving them sweets is a really bad thing - take pens or pencils to give to the kids -

it would be the best time of your life....

if you need any more info let me know!!

all the best!
