I believe that the typical American on the street wants to help the Iraqi people. Like me. I am American. I know that since the war began, Iraq is worse off then it was before,...generally speaking. I feel for them. But the American govt is a different story. They say one thing and always do another. If their goal was to help the Iraqi people, things would of never of gotten this out of hand. We have lost control. I do not believe that the Americans will ever fully pull out of Iraq. we can not afford to,..without it looking as though we came in, destroyed the country and then ran away. We preach democracy, but democracy means different things to different people. It just does not work in some places. The American govt is sort of like the Roman Empire at its height before their fall. Bullies. To far spread out,...and not caring for their own people.
Saddam was a bad person granted, but at least the country was semi stable. Now, it is a wreck. If the Americans pull out,...it would not get any better. I do not know the solution. I know that this was a huge mistake on Bush's part. I just wish that the Iraqi people and others could know that not all Americans wanted this war. We want it over just as much as they do. We also wish it had never began.

I believe that the Americans did want to help the Iraqi people but I am not sure if the US Government had the same intentions.
Anything you answer to your question is only based in hypothetical judgments and not facts.
Please take a look at the links. As you know the US State Departments makes public all its files after a 30 year period. You can take a look at some historical events that there are proof about them.

Yes Americans really want to help the Iraqi people in spite of what the news says.
It gets worse before it gets better when removing brutal regimes and their supporters. Don't lose hope.

I think the Americans of the USA want to help but not the government. They have other agendas. I want to thank our troops for putting their lives on the line for us. But this war really makes you think. They did not capture Bin Laden, the man that actually had people on our grounds. The man that had a lot of our people killed.
