Do you bit your nails or the skin around them? I know that can cause small infection in your fingers.
I would soak my nail in luke warm water mixed with dissolved Epsom salt for 10-15 minutes a couple time a day. This is kill the infection and bring down the swelling. Good luck!

I believe you should check with your doctor re this problem.Perhaps he will call in an antibiotic for your youngun. If the entire finger is bright red ,I would not wait yet another 24 hrs before getting aggressive with this injury-red streaks or not.Another possibility is an allergic reaction to the neomycin in the neosporin. It might be a good idea to use some polysporin OTC which is just as good as the Neosporin but without the neomycin which seems to be causing more and more allergic reactions.Sounds like you are doing everything right.I know treating a 1 year old can truly be a challenge.Good luck!

Well if it's truly infected, then you'll need some antibiotics. Is it possible that you got bitten by something? You should probably go to a doctor to have it looked at and they can tell you how to treat it - or at least call your doctor's office and ask them if they think you need to come in. It depends on how red it is, if it's hot to the touch, how long it's been like that - you can't get good medical advice on this thing - so just call your doctor.

Depending on bad it's swollen or infected, you may need to have it lanced . Antibiotics may be needed, especially if it's draining. Keep it elevated above your heart, and go see a Dr.
If it's just painful and red, you could start out with one of those antibiotic band aids.

take a little Dixie cup and put some hydrogen peroxide in it and just put your pinkie in it and it'll bubble. when the bubbling stops or slows down you can take it out. then wash with water.
