I suppose you are running anti-virus & at the same time working on your pc. If the RAM config is less, then its normal for your pc to freeze or slow while the anti-virus is running. Try increasing the ram to atleast 256 or 514 MB. Sure this will help you. But before buying one check out if your motherboard support any extra ram & also what type of ram can be installed S or DDR.
If you dont want to replace ram, simply remove unneccessary softwares (which you dont use much) & also delete unwanted data. Further, dont open multiple applications together.

The first thing is, are you running a file-sharing program? If so that is probably your problem. If not, try going to www.download.com and downloading free spy ware removers such as spybot and ad aware pro. Free trial downloads on all sort of thing that will help you. Try registry mechanic and ad aware 6 and best of all system mechanic 4 or higher. Hope that helps.

I think there is a software out there than can scan your PC for problems. It is called Tune Up Utility. You will have to search the web to find it. It has a trail period of 30 days. It may help.

Several comments....first how much memory [i.e. ram] do you have? The amount of RAM can make a big difference in the preformance. Secondly, free antiviris is alright but Norton is well worth the investment and saves on the headace. If your ram is ok and your operating system is xp then get northen antiviris.

AVG defends against viruses and Windows Defender defends against hijacks and malware but you are probably loaded with spyware.
Two programs you should get & run about once a week are Spybot and Adaware. They also are free and you can get them both here - http://www.download.com/
Go get them now & run them. I bet that will fix your problem

I have those two things as well, and love them. But one thing I didn't have on my old comps, that I DO have with this one... is Ethernet. I am not quite sure what it does, but I have none of the slow, or error, or freezes that I used to have

i guess lack of sufficient disk area and a number of different history amenities/ classes are making your computer slower. in this example, you need to sparkling-up the disk area allotted through waste archives/ folders. there's a inbuilt device referred to as Disk CleanUp it really is helpful. yet another element it truly is ought to- end the unnecessary amenities, classes & purposes. because there is not any inbuilt software in homestead windows, you need to matter on Reginout amenities optimizer. do not difficulty, your difficulty will be fixed.
