C.I.A operatives have been linked to Al-Qaeda members. Mock emergency drills in London. Now illegal wiretaps And a dozen other tactics are being used to shock us? Is this the first step towards scaring us to give up our liberties? Are we entering into George Orwells 1984?

Fear is the great power. It's used whenever they want something. Look for some more terror color charts close to the election.

We're way beyond 1984. "War is peace." "Big Brother is watching you." And another chilling quote from the book:

"And in the general hardening of outlook that set in ... practices which had been long abandoned ... -- imprisonment without trial, public executions, torture to extract confessions, the use of hostages and the deportation of whole populations -- not only became common again, but were tolerated and even defended by people who considered themselves enlightened and progressive."

Which liberties have been taken from you? Those wire taps were not illegal. Procedure was followed. Would you rather not have emergency drills and just kinda fend for yourself? I still get up in the morning, get in my car and drive to work. The only liberties that I see going out the window are personal property rights, freedom from repressive taxes, and the fact that lobbyists have more access to our elected officials than we do. My head is not buried in the sand and I do see what is going on. I don't like it, but a 180 degree polar shift to the left will not solve the problems. Can't we get back to the center, or better yet, can't we get back to the beginning when we were all free to choose and there was no government dole?

We have been in 1984 for 5 1/2 years. The stupid thing is that those people who keep supporting Bush just because he keeps promising them he will ban abortion and gay marriage dont give a hoot. They are so caught up in this nonsense that they dont care that every day this zealot is taking away every freedom that we have come to know under the guise of "security". None of the things that are being done to the people of the country are helping in his "war on terror". He is the one we should be terrified of...and I am. Nothing could be worse than a nutjob running around unchecked with power...just like Bin Laden.

Yes, we have to put all our liberties on hold so we can bring democracy to the rest of the world and defeat terrorism. It doesn't make sense does it? How can we give what we don't have? Or how about this? If you have nothing to hide why do you need privacy? Or the somewhat new requirement to always carry ID and produce it on demand? What country were we talking about again? I was taught this kind of thing could never happen here when I was in school. Now we just ban the books or closely watch anyone who reads such things.

yes. In 1850 the President told Americans that the Census said we would go extinct. Now they are saying we'll be extinct in less than 150 years.

Clinton in office was at a Hispanic dinner and said he thought he'd be the last President that spoke English.

They have embraced our extinction for the people they chose to be the next leading generation in our country. Instead of informing people, they are allowing Mexicans here to either break up the United States or have some of us assimilate with them or allow them to be the majority to take over.

Where did I find this our from? I couldn't figure out why the Mexicans kept telling us we were old and they were young and going to take over our futures. BECAUSE OUR LEADERS WANT THEM TOO. Everytime I look at their racist remarks, I find truth of it in Congress, who ever would have thought, certainly not me!!

This really creeped me out. There policy down the road is to lead Americans to EXTINCTION.

Now, if anyone is racist - it's Congress. Since 1965, our Congressmen have been cut from the same cloth, led by Ted Kennedy. Because of them creating laws that would enhance our extinction, their solution, unlike 1850, is to bring the closest 'genes' to mix with us so we can go on as Hispanic - what that means is after we're gone, THE BLACKS WILL NEVER REALIZE THERE DREAM OF BEING THE MAJORITY IN AMERICA.

Definately! 2006 is the new 1984. Our personal liberties are evaporating. Privacy is almost non-existent. Fear is a terrible motivator. Its just sad that people are buying into what is being done to keep us "free".

If you can give me an example of a freedom you've given up, I'll see if your concern can be addressed.
