Uh, YEAH... When you say "just showing off in front of people" I think you're referring to the "ARTIST" and not the songwriter or musician. Songwriters spend hours laboring over the perfect words, the perfect melody, the feel of the song, clever word plays, the tempo, and just putting together a great song. Musicians, on the other hand, practice for hours on their instruments every day - they play to audiences who don't or can't really appreciate their talents and often times for no money - just to be able to play. Songwriters and musicians are the silent partners in the success of any artist - and all the artist has to do is get up there and show off.

Absolutely. If you just show off, you loose your fans pretty quickly, but if you make music with certain quality, you'll get loyal fans.
