Because the human race consists of several differnt personality types. Almost everyone has different views on everything, everyone has something they're passionate about, and everyone usually holds one unpopular belief. There will never be world peace as long as we inhabit the earth-there's just too many differences to ever get along for any length of time.

Most of us do. All that noise you hear is from the outside fringes. It's the radical right arguing with the radical left.
