When I try to scan photos into Microsoft Word, a box pops up instructing me to type in my name, initials, and my 25-character
certificate, or license, or something number before it will allow the photos on the program. It says the number can be found on the CD case or on the CD itself. I know it's to protect authorization, but I don't know how to do it. I don't have a CD, or if I do, I don't know it. LOL. I just want to scan some old family pictures.

Please explain this to me what I need to do.

Might be able to help... what kind of scanner are you using? The box you are discribing almost sounds like the Microsoft product activation box. Does the box come up even if you open up Word to type a letter ?

I don't understand why you want to use MS Word to scan photo. Your scanner should come with Photo Editing Software. It is probably Word is asking you to insert a CD because of what MS called "install on-demand" where at the original install, only the main portion of the program is installed. The rest of the functions are install when you want to use them. It sounds like either your MS software is not purchased separately so you don't have the CD. If you don't have the authorization code, I suggest you just use the scanner software. After you scan the photo, save it as jpg or tiff. If you want to insert them onto a Word document, just go to insert -> picture -> from file... and then browse to the picture file you saved. If you need more help than this, you will have to provide more details such as: if you are using a brand name computer with Word pre-installed; do you have scanner software and what type of software do you have; what are you trying to do? So that it is easier for people to help you. Good luck.

You have to have the authorization number in order to use microsot applications the reason you may have run into this is some new computers come with a 30 day trial then ask you to register or by later. Or you can scan the photos into another application or just as a jpg or something then insert into a document later

Angel...you need to BUY the program to get it to work. You can go to the maker of the scanner's website and try to download the driver and bundled software. It seems you might have to get someone to help you with this, or make a trip to a local drug store and have them do it for you on their system...

Good luck...you seem to need it...
