I don't know what causes it but it is certainly life threatening and extremely painful. If you suspect you or anyone you know may be suffering from this get to emergencey ASAP!!

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse, there are many reason for a twisted bowel.I can tell you that it can be fatal because if the blood supply is cut of because of the twist it will lead to gangrene and death. Get help and quickly.

Diverticulitis, especially when it becomes infected or ruptures. If it ruptures, the leaking into the surrounding area (peritoneum) causes peritonitis. It's life threatening.

it is life threatening, and you will have to have surgery. the doctor can explain it better. but you can die from it and it is extremely painful.
