Wow thats a tough one, best might just to be totaly upfront and not beat around the bush (bad choice of words there) . Just ask him. makes me wonder how you are going to do it though, like big stringe or what.......lot of emotional issues too. any decent guy is going to have feelings about his child and that could be sticky. Beings you have already picked him I'm sure he's a decent guy. Best of luck to you.

Sorry about all the insensitive answers you've been getting. Maybe you could ask if he would ever be willing to give sperm to a lesbian couple and what his stipulations might be. This way you can get a feel for where he's coming from.
Or...
You could just ask him. But try and let him know that its ok for him to say "no" as this is a very personal decision. Either way don't try to sort out the details in one day. Throw the idea out there and maybe tell him that you don't want to know his intial answer, that you want him to really think it over.

Good Luck

You just ask. Invite him over for dinner. Let him know what you're looking for and what you would expect of him. The two of you should try to make the experience as comfortable and loving for him as possible, so he feels included in the equation.

There are also lots of legal ramifications, such as visitation, birth parent rights, financial responsibilities, what to do in case of a breakup, etc. that would need to be worked out. If you haven't done your homework yet, start now. I've linked a gay parenting magazine that seems to have a good selection of links to other sites. You two will also need to decide how much involvement you want him to have, ranging from none to a lot. And of course, he would determine his level of involvement too.

Good luck! I've never been asked, nor do I want children of my own (way too selfish at this stage of my life) but I'd at least consider the arrangement. I'm great with kids, as long as I don't have them full-time.

Steal one of his used condoms (likely in a waste can), purchase a medical freezer, store said semen in medical freezer, insert semen inside turkey baster, impregnate girlfriend with said turkey baster.

Seriously, you probably should ask him first if he wants children. If so, let him know what you're thinking and how he figures into this (is he JUST the sperm donor? will he play any role in the child's life? pay child-support? etc). After being open and frank with each other, you should be able to reach a solution, and remember, even if he's not interested, there are sperm banks across the country. Best wishes.

Well, you walk up to him and say, "Look here, Ed. My gf and I would like to have a baby. Would you be willing to donate some sperm?"

I was asked to donate sperm by a lesbian couple but I turned them down. I just didn't feel it was right for me for a number of reasons. You'll just have to ask but accept it if you get turned down.

Just tell him how you feel, and that you think he would be the best person to donate! Im sure he will be flattered and more than willing, unless he is one of those guys that thinks he gets to be involved in the hole process, if you know what i mean!

Is he your significant other or just a friend? If he's your significant other, he just might be flattered by you asking him. If he's just a friend and there's little or no romantic involvement, I'd be wary of asking him. And what's wrong with you using YOUR sperm for a baby?

Why not just adopt a child? There are thousands of children that need good homes and loving parents. Adopt one of those kids. Having half the DNA doesn't mean anything, it's love that counts.
