If people are happy in a same sex relationship then how can someone look at that and decide it's wrong? For someone to look at somebody else and decide that they are disgusting seems quite bizarre. For somebody to even make this judgement surely reflects badly on their personality.

...there is a Freudian explanation that says that people are homophobic because they are surpressing their own erotic feelings towards the same sex.
The other explanation is that they are narrow minded idiots ;-)

There are three factors to homophobia:
RELIGION - religious people feel called upon by their religious beliefs to speak out against homosexuality. Some religious followers take it too extreme.
FEAR/MISUNDERSTANDING - Straight people who personally don't know any homosexuals sometimes have misguided fears that homosexuals will prey upon and seek to "convert" a heterosexual into a homosexual. There is also a popular misconception that children can "catch" homosexuality from a homosexual role model. The biggest misconception in the present day is that homosexuality causes HIV.
INTERNALISED HOMOPHOBIA - A person who is experiencing inner turmoil/conflict over their own same sex attraction may use homophobia as a front to conceal (and deny) their own feelings.
INTOLERANCE - Some people think purely in terms of their own values and attractions, and think "well, I don't like .... so therefore its wrong,"

People do not understand things that are different than they are. It's ALWAYS been that way. Whatever is unusual is feared.
SOME people think homosexuality is 'unnatural', but then who are they to say what is natural? All you can REALLY say about Homosexuality is that it's not TYPICAL. But then, so is being left-handed.
SOME people think that homosexuality endangers the human population because they cannot procreate. Since homosexuals make up less than 5% of the population, that argument is kind of ridiculous. If only it were true however, it might save this planet from the overpopulation that is killing it.

Stupidity. People are always afraid of the unknown. Just leave people alone and don't judge. Be happy that they found someone they want to be with and vice versa. It's hard to find that.

I totally agree with you! Just let ppl live, be happy, and LOVE! Gay ppl are NOT bad ppl! I'm not a bad person cuz I'm a lesbian, but I'm really getting sick of being told I'm going to hell.......that's gettina a lil old. Homophobes usually are that way b/c they are afraid of their own sexual preference! They are afraid they might be gay themselves!! Homosexuality is an abomination and it's utterly disgusting.
Im not gonna stop one from partaking in the Lifestyle but I don't wanna live under any law that forces me to approve it like they already have in Sweden.

Well in one part don't accept that relationship is like your family not acception you to marry a girl.
On the other hand is when you dont accept and you get to mistreat that person. The second one is called homophobia.
