David Lee Roth hands down, when he left Van halen, they sold out and went full top 40 band, not a classic hard rock band !!!

Ooooooh..... I only liked Van Hagar for some of the songs (AFU, Cabo Wabo and 5150), they seemed to have a very relaxed feel, musically speaking, and I have plenty of GOOD memories during those years. I'll have to hand it to them for that.
However, I cant argue, Van Halen with Dave wins hands down. Eddie was playing guitar at his absolute best. My personal faves are Little Guitars(1&2), Unchained, Spanish Fly, Fire and Side 2 of 1984.

Seen Van Halen 2x before. Seen both and love both. They are both creative and unique individuals. One is not better than the other.
