NO and there's a reason they don't want anyone under 16 on the website.
Kids should associate with other kids in the same age bracket. Not a lot of grownups and older teens.
There are a ton of predators out there stalking younger kids and even kids that obey the rules may accidentally give out information they shouldn't.
Since the website isn't meant for 13, you have to lie about your age just to get on and that means people looking for sex will think you are older.
There are other social sites that are safer for younger kids. Try Neopets.
Besides, it is so easy to get caught up in an online social life and forget that real people and faces are a lot more interesting. Get more active in your neighborhood. Hang with your friends or join some clubs to meet new ones.
High school isn't far off and you'll make a ton of new friends then.
It's a lot more fun to have friends you can actually do stuff with anyway.

I think you have to be at least 14 to have a myspace. I also don't think that site is good for 13 or 14 year old teens who want to pretend that they are 18 or 19 and put up half naked pictures of themsleves.

I think myspace is completely acceptable...it is a great place to keep up with friends...might save ya money on texting bills, etc. If it's monitered, myspace is excellent. If the kid is let free, they might run into wrong kind of people, as possible anywhere on the internet. Good luck!

It ALLLLL Depends on who you're talking about here...
1. If this 13 yrs you're talking about is extremely smart, honest and cooperate with their parents, and cautious, then its ok to make some new friends out there. 99% of us DO KNOW know who we're talking to (old classmates, neighbor, sibilings, relatives, long-lost friend), and that's why we wasted so much time (except me).
2. If this 13 yrs is just full of curiousity, stupid, bad judgement, little or no cautious mind, lack of internet safety knowledge, have no other healthy interest (outside of the cyber world), then its BAD for this 13 yrs kid.
3. If this 13 yrs kid already been there and done that, its probably too late to tell them "Hey, its bad for you." They'll know what they're dealing with.
4. If this 13 yrs is writing programs and gaming hardcore already, don't worry about- myspace is too boring for them for sure. They might just have that for fun on the side- no need to worry.
5. No matter you're 13 or 23, you can still meet bad people or lie to people about your age, so there is no guarantee after all.
(Or you are 23 and dumb as 13 yr kid, then yah its still bad for you).

Myspace isn't the problem. The problem is bad parenting. Parents should know what their children are browsing on the web. I am 24 and would NEVER put up pics like some of the little girls on there do.

No, I don't. I think that myspace is allowing someone to spy on your child, would you want a stranger to know you child's name, school, interests, friends, and see pictures of him/her... i wouldn't.
Myspace is an adult community, it is dangerous for children, especially if they are alone on the computer in an unsupervised location . Which unfortunately is often the case in American homes.

As long as mom & dad carefully monitor usage, then sure. As long as mom & dad know all the friends on the list (in other words "real life" friends) and that the 13 year old knows that if they get ANY message that's inappropriate or makes them uncomfortable, they MUST tell parent RIGHT AWAY and if they get a friend request from anyone they don't know in real life they have to deny them.

No, its to easy to see risky photos of men and women both. All you have to do is an advance search, choose gay, and you get all the porn you will ever need as a 13 yr old

The kids will tell you it's harmless, but lots of perverts surf through it and prey on the naive kids (and women as well). There have been numerous sex offenders caught on MySpace. If you allow your child on it, monitor him / her.

No, have you not heard about all the sex and predators on myspace? I would not put my child on that site.
