"Very near to R&B" is not the same as R&B. There is a difference in the styles. That is what makes one Pop and one R&B. After all, Elvis is known for being an innovator in R&B, and he was white. The Beatles were classified as R&B before they started a new category...Rock and Roll.

I'm not sure the tern R&B is still used for current music. I think it is hip hop, rap and pop.

I didn't realize there was a diffence by race. I thought it was a difference by style of music. Mariah Carey, who is part black, is always in the Pop Category.

Anyway, who cares. I just listen to what I listen to.

It's true but not all true. Janet Jackson and Micheal Jackson is pop music. So is Whitney Houston and many others. Emenem sings RAP and he is white!

Another question might be 'why is that when a black person writes and sings a song its only so so and then when a white person sings it its a smash hit.

lol. To a certain extent what your saying is true. But like the person above me posted that is true also. Us black people want to hold on to what we have. Also, just because you sound soulful doesn't make your music R&B.
