First off, it's: "Shave and a haircut, 2 bits". 2 bits = 25 cents, so 1 bit = 12 1/2 cents.

A "bit" is one-half of a quarter. There's some cheer that goes, "Two bits, four bits, six bits, a dollar! All for (insert team name), stand up and holler!" So two bits equals one quarter. Six bits is seventy-five cents.
