some is cool but not all, i mainly like rock, rap, hip hop and pop.

People like country due to the storytelling nature of the craft, at least that's the way it was until the early 90's when country music became the new rock and created unoriginal songs flaunting stupid catch phrases and capitalizing on tragedies occuring at the time. Today country music is an empty, soulless shell of what it used to be, attracting people who are perfectly happy with mediocrity and consistence. I can't tell one artist from the next. It is the chic thing to be a country fan these days. Excuse me, I need to vomit.

You very well may think that it sucks and that is fine... I am not saying if I like country or not, but whatever genre of music you prefer, some people may think that your kind of music "sucks" as well. You might not like country that is fine, but other people really enjoy it. Just remember that someone very well might think that your favorite kind of music sucks as well.

One of MY least favorite types of music, too. But alot of people do like it because it is what they grew up listening to. Some of it (the newer, more contemporary stuff) is not really that bad, but I still do not choose country stations on the radio because you have to wade through all of the "cry in your beer" stuff to get to the better songs. I usually look for something that has some alternative rock along with some classic rock.

Because the music industry TELLS people what to like. It's very true. I used to work in radio and I quit when I realized that when the industry really wants you to like someone, they'll push them harder until the majority of the people in the country all sit and listen.
Turn off your radios and decide what music you like for yourselves. Stop listening to stuff your friends tell you is good and decide for yourselves.

why do people like rap? why do they like rock? It all depends on the person's preference. I personally like all genres of music! Besides, I bet there is a song or an artist that you like and don't even realize they are country!

Because if you really listen to the lyrics of a lot of the modern country songs, you'll find that they can be VERY true-to-life. I myself am a country fan and can relate wholeheartedly to a lot of songs.

I think country music all sounds the same, ...but I respect people who listen to it because it makes them happy. Maybe they can relate to the lyrics and it reminds them of their home. Some people like music that you don't like and some people don;'t like your music....live and let live.

I like some country, as much as I like some other genre's of music. There's probably something YOU like that I don't like. To each his/her own.
