Because traditionally gay men take better care of their appearance: grooming, fitness, fashion.
Why is this?
It's much more important in the male gay community to attract romance with your looks. Men are very looks oriented.
Straight guys can attract women with a variety of things: Looks, money, power, charm. That's why it's more unusual to see an ugly woman with a gorgeous (straight) guy than the opposite.

Believe me, there are a lot of ugly gays out there, but to generalize, gays tend to be more interested in their appearance than straight guys. Thus, they'd dress better and take better care of themselves.

Most gays care more about their looks -- but I agree with you -- there are, while many ugly gays, far more guys who are gay and start out good looking than is average -- and I don't know why.
Note to the fellow with the effeminate comment -- not all gays are effeminate.

The reason is we care more about how we look because we never want to miss a chance with a hot guy for not looking great.

I know it seems as is though the girls fall in love with the gay guys.Why do they all a sudden fall in love with gay guys,and then they try to change them by sleeping with them.Then they end up pregnant.Such a typical gender!

It sure seems that way, I wonder if it's because they have too many feminine genes in their make up.
But I have seen a lot of ugly gays too, and good looking guys, who I assume are straight. So who knows.
