You start taking prenatal vitamins as soon as you find out that you are pregnant. You can get them over the counter at walmart or any of the drugstores. You also need to start seeing a doctor as soon as possible. Wether it be a private doctor or the health dept. My doctor told me that the over the counter prenatal vitamins are the same as the one that you get by prescription, the only difference is the price.

You can take prenatal vitamins any time in your life. I take them every day, even when I'm not pregnant. The best thing is to start taking them now and continue at least through pregnancy and breastfeeding.
You can get them anywhere and the over the counter ones are as good as the prescribed ones, so they don't have to be real expensive. The most important thing is folic acid (folate). Now is not too late to start taking them.
Start them now and don't worry that you haven't been taking them, a lot of women don't take them at first due to either morning sickness or not knowing they are pregnant.
Women have been having babies for thousands of years, and up until the last decade haven't had prenatal vitamins, and most babies turned out fine. Not taking them won't cause any defects with your baby, it will just help avoid certain ones that are caused by vitamin deficiencies.

your ob/gyn should have some free samples or go to the health dept. You can purchase them pretty cheap if that fails, ideally any woman of child bearing age should take prenatal vi tams so they are already in your body when you get pregnant, alto of times it may be to late into the pregnancy for them to prevent cert in birth defects but I say take them anyway because it can and will help your pregnancy at any stage, it's not to late but you need them asap, the folic acid is the main thing you are needing

You should have started immediately! Take them until you are done breastfeeding. It's important to have vitamins in you until the baby stops surviving off your body for nutrients. It's the most important the younger the baby is!

You can get them from any pharmacy or health food store. Prenatal vitamins are right in with the regular ones. My doc said you can stay on them all your life if you want to.

My Doctor told me to start taking them as soon as I told him I wanted another baby. He said that he could prescribe me some, they will only give me 30 at a time, but the folic acid will be 1000mcg..which is really, really good, but he said the store bought ones are fine also. He recommended me to get those...They have 800 mcg's of folic acid which is still pretty good!

you can start prenatals as soon as you are pregnant
you can buy the at any store that has a pharmacy (like walmart)
because you are in the first trimester do not supplement with extra calcium magnesium or more than 800mcg of folic acid (all have been linked to birth defects)
