Since you have never used a tampon, you might want to start with the smallest size, just to get used to how to put it in. I know this isn't exactly the answer you are looking for, but it really isn't that hard once you calm down and relax! (I had the same problem when I started using tampons) Find a position either sitting or standing with you foot on the tub that is comfortable. Everyone's body is different and you just have to figure out the right angle to insert the tampon. As weird as it sounds, if it is in correctly, you will NOT feel it. If you can, take it out and try again. And with everything else, it will get easier over time. Have a good weekend.

Don't give up...try to insert another tampon. Make sure that you read the instructions that came in the box. Relax as you are inserting it; there's nothing to be afraid of. Push the tampon in at an angle, as if you are pointing it toward the base of the spine instead of "straight up." Tampons can't get "lost" in your body. You might want to try squatting, as you insert it. It would probably be best for you if you use a "regular" size tampon since they are smaller. Also, make sure that you are using a kind that has a smooth plastic applicator. Be calm, patient, relaxed. You'll be fine, don't worry, okay? Good luck.

I remember the first time I tried-it got stuck and it hurt very badly. What you need to do is buy a slimmer size-the slimmest you can find. Go into the bathroom well ahead of time, and relax. Take deep breaths. You need to be calm so you don't tighten up down there. ANd this may sound gross, but if you are getting to the end of your period, you may be a little dry, so you may want to lubricate yourself a bit. Make sure your hands are clean, stay relaxed, and put one leg up on the toilet seat. Slowly and gently guide it in. If you start to get nervous or feel pain, relax and take deep breaths again, and maybe adjust the angle of the tampon. I'm sure you'll do fine, and good luck!

As for the tampon hurting that will happen if you haven't used one before. They do make them in different sizes and lengths you might need to find one that is a lot smaller. As for the swimming using a tampon would be the only way to go.

Use the junior size tampon and ky jelly if you need extra help getting it in. Read the directions that come with the tampons, they do help. If it feels weird then you didn't get it in far enough. Put the applicator part in all the way up to where your fingers are on the applicator, then push the tampon in. You may have to practice a few times and waste some tampons. You'll get the hang ouf it.

Try using smaller tampons first of all. Plastic applicators are best. when putting in a tampon unwrap the package carefully holding it (don't take it apart) insert carefully and slowly into your vagina until the little ridges on the tampon reaches the outer lips of your vagina. Then gently push the top barrel part of the tampon into your vagina. It should be in now. If it feels uncomfortable (this is gonna sound gross) use your middle finger to gently push the tampon up higher into your vagina. If it still feels uncomfortable then maybe you should take it out and go see your doctor for advise.

first check the size of the tampon you are trying then if it is not a "teen" size or something like that go smaller. You may have to change it more often but it should be more comfortable. Also you, like me, may never feel really comfortable with tampons. I just use them when I really need to. you may want to try different brand as well. they are not all the same.

Okay just make sure you follow directions correctly. The first time i wore won i got scared too. You have to insert the tampon really good inside in order for it not to hurt. You can find out if your wearing it correctly by trying to sit down. If it hurts when you sit up straight that means it's not inserted correctly and you need to push it in farther a little. Try to sit straight again and if this time it does not hurt then you got it.This is how i taught myself on how to use them.

If it hurt, it may not have been in correctly. I have a reversed cervix, so what made it easier for me was sitting on the toilet (not standing, as the directions recommend) and push in until your fingers touch your skin. Then you depress the plunger thing to put the tampon in further. The pain may have been because you weren't past this one muscle. It is the same muscle that "pops" during sex.

I had that trouble when I first started using them. I didn't know how to but the trick is 1/get a smaller one 2/you have to put it all the way in you before you push the plunger thingy. if you barely have the tampon in it WILL hurt.
