less watering. (too much water turns the leaves brown) and perhaps move to a shadier spot.

It would be nice to know what kind of plant you have.
Usually, the brown tips mean that it needs more water. It can be helpful to trim those tips off. Plant leaves do not heal themselves. By trimming them, you will be able to tell in the future if this problem is still happening. Try to trim them to a natural shape. When I worked as an indoor landscaper, many people asked me how I kept the plants looking so nice. It was just the removal of damaged leaves, dusting, and caring for the plants on a schedule. My plants at home never looked as nice!

Sometimes, if a plant has become dry, the soil will shrink away from the sides of the pot. Then when the plant is watered, the water will run through the space, and out of the pot before the soil can absorb the water. To fix this, stand the pot in water until the soil becomes thoroughly moist. Often, the soil will swell up, and the problem will be corrected.

Be careful not to let the pot sit in water too long, though. Plant roots need water AND air, so don't drown them!

Brown means not watered enough
Yellow means too much water
in search engine do a search for your plant and get the watering requirements
