Elvis Presley is the best solo artist of all time!!!! There was a majority of people that started the rock and roll. Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ricky Nelson, Then the Beatles arrived and fizzled out the ones who started the rock and roll. The Rolling Stones followed along with Hermans Hermits, Kinks, Beau Brummels, the Bachelors, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Kinks, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Freddy and the Dreamers. There was many more bands that made their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. I remember sitting in front of the tv going crazy over all of them. The dance faze started I think with Chubby Checker doing the twist. Then Michael Jackson started the moonwalk faze. John Travolta started the disco faze with his appearance in the movie Saturday Night Fever.

Stevie Wonder, he transends time with his music and lyrics. He is passionate about the justice of human beings, and he is a musical genious. i would say that Little Richie started rock & roll, though many will disagree with me. I think that Michael Jackson was a huge force in dance/pop. I would say soft rock would be Chicago, and Journey

Elvis started R&B as we know it today. The Beatles were greatly influenced by Elvis.
Leo Kottke is the best solo artist that I know of.
Michael Jackson has had alot of influence on today's dance styles.

It's sad to see him these days.. but in his prime Michael Jackson was the BEST solo artist ever. His music still does not feel dated and is played in clubs.
