My low tech way of salvaging the kids Disney tapes would be to simply scotch tape them to a good tape and manually wind it up. It takes a while but works.

Your tape should play just fine for years without the door that covers the tape, just keep the tape in its box. Try to rattle out the little broken bits. You may need to open the case for that.

most vhs tapes are assembled the same way take another 1 apart so you can if you have the ability to do it yourself or a high end stereo shop and ask farther

If you don't want to pay for a professional replacement service, you can get a new VHS tape box (one with screws instead of glue) and replace it yourself.
It's tricky but with patience, it can be done.

Yes break the door off completely and duplicate the tape quickly.

Hi yes you can fix it just go and buy a new one and take the tape out of it and put yours in sweety its not that hard to do.

From working as a video manager, I hate to say, TRASH IT. There is no way to put it back on unless you had knowledge of how it connects inside. I have tosses so many....
