First of all, the Yankees suck. Second, they keep trying to buy Boston's players because the Red Sox are the BEST team. Unfortunately, Johnny Damon, Babe Ruth to name a few that went to the Yankees are nothing without the Red Sox. The Red Sox will continue to win and will win the series. Plus not to mention the Yankees lost a game to the Nationals that's embarrassing. The Nationals suck even more. Go Boston!!! :)

The New York Steinbrenners are not a team, they are a collection of salaries. But the best teams do lose to the worst once in a while. Even the abysmal 1962 Mets won 40 games and beat such top-notch pitchers like Don Drysdale.
The Yankee legend is exactly that, a legend. You have to go out there 162 times every year, and if you don't have a team that works together, you won't win. The Yankees are properly celebrated because they used to be able to do this better than anyone else, and perhaps when George Steinbrenner is gone that will happen again.
Look at the Seattle Mariners. On paper, they are as good as anybody. But they often have trouble stringing the hits together when they need them.
Money can buy mercenaries like Alex Rodriguez. It cannot buy team spirit. No manager, and Joe Torre is a good one, can overcome that lack.

Well, you were right when you said "supposedly". They don't have the best players. Pujols? Halliday? There are more out there that are better than most of the Yankees.
Why haven't they won it all in a few years? Well; bad luck, choking, overconfidence, injuries, getting cold, running up against hot teams. Who knows. Most likely is a conspiracy by MLB to hold them back since everyone was so jealous of their success after the strike in 94 or 95. ;-)
And cripes, everyone forgets how mediocre/bad we were for 6 or 7 years before the strike.

The Yankees cant win simply because of the NYC pressure. Playing and representing NYC is very hard to cope with. The media, the fans-including the ones who root for other teams, and even baseball illiterate people know that the Yankees are historical. Everyone expects the Yankees to win and the players want to fulfill those expectations and they can't because they are trying too hard.

The answer is very simple!! They do NOT have the best players in the game. Obviously, the Red Sox do, and you Yankee fans know it as well as we Sox fans do. Problem is you guys are living on past glory, and unfortunately for you, that does not win ball games.
Go Sox!!!

They are not a cohesive "team". They have too manu players that cannot live up to the pressure. Look at A-Rod. One of the best players in the game, but chokes in every high pressure situation and has akways sucked in the playoffs. And to wrap it up, their pitching is terrible.

Their middle relief pitching is not good at all. Their starters are okay and can give a lead to the bullpen but the bullpen can't hold the lead. They have a great closer, but what's the point of having a great closer if your middle relievers can't hand him over a lead.

In years past they usually rebounded after the All-Star game and this year will be no exception.

Because they don't play as a team. They behave badly, like over-paid prima donnas.
