depends- if you are wearing the traditional swim suit, with the little white net liner that gives support to your junk, then no
if you are wearing the popular "board shorts", which are basically just fabric shorts, then yes, wear some sort of underwear.

If you want to hear it, I've got a story about wearing underwear under your swimming things....
They built the first swimming pool in my town when I was about 7. It was really popular and everybody went there. We went with school to have swimming lessons and it was the first time one girl in my class had ever been swimming.
When we got out of the pool she was crying because her knickers were wet and she couldn't wear them so had to go back to school with no undies on! She had kept them on under her swimming cozzie because she thought it was waterproof and would keep them dry!
So if you do wear your pants under your trunks take a spare pair!

Well if you buy actual "swim trunks" and not "board shorts", you'll notice that they have this horrific and satanic material that I call "the cheese grater". It's very irritating and can be painful after long periods of wear. So if I ever had "swim trunks" I normally cut out the cheese grater cloth or just wear underwear instead! =)

No! you don't need to do that, the trunks are for going in the water. Underwear is not for going in the water so no you don't need to put it on.

No, underwear will absorb too much water.. the weight will pull them off you when you get out of the water!!!!

Only if your swim trunks have no lining. Then you should. Otherwise, no.
I hope this helps.
