A cautionary tale it was indeed. Common sense today...is uncommon. Intelligence is the application of common sense....something that was missing where the characters in the film were concerned.
Joy Ride and Jeepers Creepers were two films that fall into that same category. You see the moment where they ought to apply common sense...and don't...and how they seal their own fate.
Another good movie like this is The Descent. The Descent is to the Cave...what Deep Impact was to Armageddon. Excellent...nailbiting suspense.

A guy at work told me they came up with the idea of Hostel from an ad on a web site where you can pay to hunt humans. Supposedly the FBI are trying to find out where. There is another movie similar to this one called Surviving The Game. It's about a bunch of weathly hunters who recruit a homeless man to lead a hunting expedition. Turns out the homeless man is the prey! Made in 1999 starring Ice-T and Rutger Hauer. I thought Hostel was great! It made me think if this could actually be happening somewhere. The movie The Village made me stop and think too!

Well the porno stuff sure....
But other whys no i dont believe that stuff really happened! The whole blow torch thing just doesnt seem like it could have happened! Or at least not the way the put it together! But The movie did spin off of a website that had forums about people doing that...but i believe it was more of a joking website! But who knows anythings possible!

Dude I saw that movie and it was so awesome....but u never really know if something like that could be happening in the world today somewhere. They do have people around that saw it that would probably decide to recreate it in some way or fashion. You just never know who you will meet in this world today.

Piss-poor acting and grade-school special effects? Yeah... i'm pretty sure it's happening in Hollywood as we speak. C'mon, Quentin. You can do better. But seriously... if you have enough money or power, you can do anything you want. I'm not sure we peasants can buy a ticket to make dinty-moore out of unsuspecting locals, but governments do it every day. They just send soldiers instead of booby-girls.

All Hostel was was a porno flick pretty much it was stupid and yea i believe somewhere people are doing that it wouldnt surprise me

I hope not, but this is a sick world, so it might have been done somewhere...I think that's what infuriated me most about the movie, not the story, but the potential.

That kind of **** happens everywhere. I've even heard of rich *** people going to south Africa and paying people alot of money setting them lose in the wild and then hunting them.
