most people call them war bonnets but the ones you see one TV and in movies are mostly called Hollywood fiction. while most native Americans did wear feathers in their hair as decoration or as a symbol for particular things to that nation the ornamentation that you see on TV is rarely accurate. the long feathered war bonnets have never been worn by any tribe to my knowledge.

I've heard them referred to both as feathered headdresses and war bonnets. Different Nations will have different words for them in their own languages, these are only the common English terms.
