Right now, I only wax my eyebrows in fear of the pain... Does it really hurt? And what about your underarms?

It's not bad if you do it right. The first time stings a bit, but every time after that, it gets better and better. (Remember the first time you plucked an eyebrow? It's not that bad now, is it?)
If you're doing this at home, use your free hand to pull the skin on your leg tight. I like the pre-waxed strips from Nair- just read the directions in the box carefully before starting. If you're having it professionally done, it might sting, but they know how to make the process as easy as possible.

It will hurt for the first couple of wax strips. After that your endorphins kick in and the pain dulls. Its worth it because it looks better than waxing.

If you usually shave, it will hurt the first time. But after that the hair will grow smoother and it won't hurt as much. You'll get used to it.

Well first you get hot wax all over then they quickly rip it off of your skin. Yay. Wax.
