Do you know any NC doctors who do breast reductions and accept medicaid?

I'm in need of one!!! My doctors wrote me a conformation lettter and my social worker checked to make sure I was able to use my medicaid card. So far I can't find a doctor to give me a b.r. because of medicaid.

Medicaid is a big problem because it considers breast reduction a cosmetic surgery and won't ordinarily approve it. But as you say you have confirmation that you have a genuine medical need, your doctor needs to fax a TAR (Treatment Authorization Request) to them to get prior approval for the procedure. You need to contact them and get the name of a cosmetic surgeon who is contracted with Medicaid. Good luck, Medicaid pays slowly and pays pennies and many specialists don't want to be bothered with it. If you don't want to go through Medicaid to get the name of a surgeon, you can contact your local Medical Association and they may be able to halp you locate a surgeon.
