First, I would have a talk with your boss to see if you could get a bigger raise. If he balks at paying you more just accept his answer and leave his office. Don't get upset, mad, or throw a fit. Just thank him for taking the time to talk to you about this and go back to work. After you leave work, start looking for another job. There is something here that he's not telling you. This could be his way of telling you that you are no longer needed. Next step is for him to fire you or lay you off. So beware!
Also, the question to ask yourself - did you get promoted or de-moted? It seems to me that you weren't offered a choice.
By the way, I'm also an employer. I know all my employees (by name) and I have an open door policy in which any employee can schedule an appointment with me and discuss anything including their pay. My turn over rate is less then 1/2% per year.
Hope this helped.

She may have more experience and skills than you do, or did when you started the position. She also may have a higher level of education. If you feel that you deserve a merit raise then you should write a memo stating why you deserve a raise based on your abilities, not based on what someone else states that they make per hour. If all else fails look for a position at a company that will pay you more, but be sure to spell check your resume

I would politely confront the boss and ask for compensation or a raise from whatever you're getting now. Unfortunately, that occurs in the workfield a lot. Sometimes it comes down to do you need the job enough to put up with it and keep your outh shut or are you going to decide that's not the type of person you want to work for.

I would definetly ask for a raise! Don't let on that you know what the other girl makes though. Do your research before you ask for a meeting to discuss your performance. I went online one time before a job review and printed up the national average and local average for the job that i do. Your boss may not even know that you haven't had a raise. Speak up!

it might just be unfair mnagement, if you really feel this is wrong, first search for another job with better pay. and once you find a job that you could apply for, confront the management. there's no way they'll try to fix it, unfortunately. they're not going to doc her pay or re emberse you. but it's always good to try and right a wrong, when it is witnest. but if she still makes more money than you, you should say something right away.

Is there a difference in your educational or experience backgrounds? Like, is she college educated? Or bilingual? Or from another company with loads of experience.
Here's a solution to you - and everyone else in your situation: UNIONIZE!!! That levels the playing field for everyone, and offers protection to the employees.
This country is where it is (WalMart and such) because unions have lost so much footing.

obviously the reason they pay you less is because they think that you are a secure employee and that you will not quit. i say make them feel a little in-secure so that they might have to give a little more money so you will stay at your job.

Are you making more now? If so, I'd leave it alone. If not, ask the boss. Be nice.
How did you find out what she makes?
