Why is it illegal to pay for something it is legal to do for free? This is another case of statist legislation wrongfully prohibiting a person doing something they have the right to do with their own body. A person has a natural right (beyond the law) to do what they wish with their own property (including themselves under the principle of self-ownership) without interference from a monopolizing infrastructure corporation like the government.

The government thinks it can tell us what we may and may not do with our bodies. They think they can tell us what is moral and what is right. But it is the same government that supports the tobacco industry with incentives and subsidies, yet fails to declare the most dangerous drug in the world ( nicotine ) a narcotic. The conservative base in Washington is supported by religious red states and the Bible, according to those same people, forbids prostitution and tries to make sex evil if it occurs between un-married consenting adults.

Prostitution is illegal because of the people who posted here. They still think you can legislate morality.
Me--I say let it be legal but not 100% legal. Zone it off in it's own section of town. Make the girls get tested so they stay clean. Anyone who goes to that section of town knows what they are going there for. Anyone else can avoid that section of town.

Hello???????? Prostitution irrelevant, not at all, ask anyone who has suffered the ills of it. it is the decay of a society that is long gone uncontrolled and of course it will and this decay has caused a world wide epidemic where millions die of HIV, it is not irrelevant but of course the other issues you mentioned are definitely important, but u know government, if they take care of these things we will have a better life and they will have no sleep so they love making our lives miserable as best as they can, thats all

It is another way to regulate morality. It is a privacy issue, what two consenting adults do, with or without spending money, is no business of the government. The government is upset because it is not getting to tax it. George Carlin said it best "Why is something that is legal to give illegal to sell?"

Prostitution is relevant. It obviously dumbs down society. You wouldn't want to see prostitutes hanging around in your sidewalks while your kids play. Most of them think it's easy to get money that way. But the more prostitutes there are out there, the more likely venereal diseases will spread.

Obviously you're not very educated. Prostitution spreads disease. Taxpayers pay the burden of this. It's critical the government play a role.
